Batik Making
Batik is a way of decorating cloth using hot wax and fabric dye. Learn the fascinating techniques involved by joining our one, two or three day courses.
The one day course allows the student to experiment using hot wax, cantings (wax pens), coloured dyes and different fabrics to quickly gain confidence. The two and three day courses allow the student more time to develop the techniques further whilst creating stunning artworks which can be framed or card mounted. Students also have the opportunity to create a beautiful silk scarf.
At the end of the course students take home the skill to make a variety of beautiful and interesting works of art which can be made into wall hangings, cushion covers, clothes, bags, blinds and more.
Part of the attraction of batik is its simplicity and the fact that you do not have to be artistic in the conventional sense to produce beautiful results. During the course students learn the basic batik techniques and have the opportunity to use their own ideas and designs if they wish.Students can choose to attend 1, 2 or 3 day courses. The student's level of experience will decide what can be achieved in the number of days chosen.
Groups of up to six people ensure personal tuition for everyone.
